Pumpkin Patch |
|
The time is now! Pumpkins will be delivered Sunday, October 10, 2004 at 12:30, right after church. Bring a lunch and wear work clothes to church (or bring some to change into). Please bring wagons and wheelbarrows and old blankets to cushion the pumpkins as they come off the truck. We will need people to help unload, to count pumpkins, to put the pumpkins out, and to finish up any decorations that need to be done. Remember, those who help on delivery day and on tearing down the Patch will get double credit hours. TEENS: ask your friends who need to work community service hours to join; they can get credit for this. There are still many whole days that have not been filled in with volunteers on the sign up sheets. If you have mentioned a desire to help, but still have not put your name to paper, now is the time. Deb Bain is coordinating the volunteers. If you have an emergency and cannot make your shift, contact Deb and she will help with staffing the patch. Check out times of the most need: preschool hours during the week, the 1-4 shift during the week, and the final weekend in October, when some NPC families will be in Montreat. October 29-31st are the busiest days and we need to fill those the Patch with smiling faces willing to help. Tearing down the Patch will begin Wednesday, November 3rd and finish up on Saturday, November 7th. Double credit hours for those days! The proceeds of the Patch will go to the church-wide mission trip next summer (you can earn your own hours!), the Montreat Worship and Music Conference (children 4th grade through adults), other youth retreats, and candle sales will support the needs of the NPC Preschool. You’ve heard about it for months! Fall is in the air! Let’s have fun while doing this worthwhile fund-raising event and community outreach. Our neighbors who have been “repeat customers” mention how wonderful our Patch is and how it has become a new family tradition (and how it saves the bumper-to-bumper journey to Bert’s Pumpkin Patch in Dahlonega). The BBQ/Bazaar will take place during the second of three weekends the Patch will be open. (see article next page) |
