Children's Corner
Our Children’s Corner is in the back of our Sanctuary, and is open to any child of any age. There are toys and crayons and things to play with. This allows children to be in worship, but not be pulling on the legs of the people who brought them saying that they are bored. Children are encouraged to play quietly, though we understand that there are limits on how quiet some toys can be played with. The background of child’s play noises wafts through the sanctuary, and it fills our hearts with joy.
You are invited to play with your children, or to let them play on their own. It is all about your comfort level. They can see you (unless you hide from them during the rest of worship) and you can see them. There will be adults close by to help them play well together and to make sure they have a good time.
We want children to not be separate during worship, but not be bored either. We believe that they will learn about worship by being in it, even if they only pay attention in short spurts. Plus we hope that this will help adults worship too.
Overheard after one child left worship. “We can’t stay here all day honey, it’s time to go.” “But Dad, can we come back here later today?”
If our children learn to enjoy worship, if they learn that worship is a time when souls soar and dance, then perhaps a lifelong love of worshiping God will begin.
